There is a fantastic new free application which you can download called GoogleEarth. It opens up with the earth from space. From there, you can zoom in on anywhere in the world. Not all areas receive equal coverage. London is amazing as are many of the US cities.
Here is Tipperary town. Notice the crossed rails at Limerick junction. I would imagine that this or something like this will eventually play a very big part in our usage of the Web. One wonders how long it will be before we'll be able to look at live views of anywhere on earth.
If you don't want to bother downloading the application, I found another satellite view here (at a Web site for Lough Gur in East Limerick). Just scroll down the page. You can click the hybrid button to overlay the map view on the satellite view. |
